Glacial-interglacial temperature changes
Based on clumped isotopes in foraminifera from the Mediterranean Sea
With the analytical improvements in our laboratory, we are now in the position to efficiently measure the clumped isotope composition of foraminifera. One of the first targets of our investigations will be the Mediterranean sea, where we will analyze cores on an east-west transect to reconstruct changes in the sea surface temperatures and changes in the oxygen isotope composition of seawater through the least million years.
This project is in collaboration with Laura Sanz and Eelco Rohling, Australian National University (ANU) and Gianluca Marino, University of Vigo.
